Visiting Pittsburgh
Abstractions draws a national and international crowd of software professionals. Pittsburgh is a city full of activity and events for a diverse set of interests.
Getting here
Flying. You’ll want to fly into PIT
and ensure that your Pittsburgh destination has an
‘h’ and is in Pennsylvania and not California.
Train. The Capitol Express is a common route between Chicago and Washington, D.C. on which Pittsburgh is a stop.
Parking here
There are many places to park in downtown Pittsburgh. We recommend the Grant Street Transportation Center as the easiest and most affordable. Located at the corner of 12th Street and Penn Ave, this lot offers convenient parking 24/7 with around-the-clock security. The facility is a short walk to the Convention Center.
The Convention Center also has a parking garage that is $13/day normally. There is also a front-door drop-off area.
If you’d like to see what else is available in the area, check out parkpgh.org. This handy map will let you know approximately how many spots are available in each lot in real time, and has details on rates and policies.
Things to do before and after the conference
We encourage Abstractions attendees to arrive in Pittsburgh ahead of the event and stick around for a few days after. We’ve put together a list of things to do before and after the conference to give you some ideas:
